Aimed at riders aged ten and up, the Ranger 150 looks like a smaller version of the company’s full-size Ranger machines. It has a 150cc engine and 2WD, enough to get around the farm. Kids will love the 2023 Ranger 150 EFI. It’s a small thing that only drives the rear tires and is limited to hauling just 50 pounds in the back, so it’s not a true miniature version of the big Rangers. However, there will be plenty of smiles to wash away those worries. The inclusion of the new Helmet Aware technology is a nice feature that improves safety.
Polaris spends time, money, and effort focusing on the car’s electronics. A digital display informs riders with a gear indicator, odometer, trip meter, voltage, engine temperature, engine hour’s interval, ground speed, and engine rpm readings. Lighting is present both front and rear, with daytime running lights, a headlamp at the front, and a single brake/tail light at the rear.
The Ranger 150 EFI’s safety electronics are strong. Helmet Aware is a Polaris technology that ensures riders are wearing lid protection when driving or riding shotgun in the little Ranger, a kit we’re big fans of. Polaris also provides helmets. The Ride Command app allows guardians to change the speed limit, geofence it to keep riders in a designated zone, and track it with G.P.S. There are also P.A.S.S. The PIN-protected feature restricts starting the machine to those with the correct key code.
Safety doesn’t stop with the Ranger 150 EFI. The machine comes with an instructional DVD that Polaris recommends all riders view before operating or riding the U.T.V. There are seat belts, safety checks, safety nets, and so on. The 2023 Polaris Ranger 150 EFI comes with Polaris’ standard six-month warranty.

The Ranger 150 EFI is not a sports car, but it easily changes direction thanks to its neat dimensions and low curb weight. The low center of gravity and rear swingarm mean riders must work to avoid small obstacles like stumps and rocks, but it will help hone riding skills at a young age. The Ranger 150 EFI has hydraulic disc brakes at all four corners, a big step from the early drum brake youth machines. The Ranger 150 EFI has no parking gear, making do with a manual brake. Ranger 150 EFI riders and passengers will find the ergonomics to be perfect. We’re not sure most kids know what “ergonomics” means, and we doubt they’ll care when they’re out on the trail.
A 150cc four-stroke engine with air and oil cooling powers the Ranger 150 EFI. It’s not a fast setup, with a factory speed limit of 16 mph, though the Ranger 150 EFI will top out at 29 mph without the limit. As with the big Rangers, the Ranger 150 EFI’s transmission is a PVT automatic, which is Polaris’ code name for continuously variable transmission. It has forward, reverses, and neutral—no low-range or park gear.
All Ranger 150 EFI models are two-wheel drive, sending power to the rear wheels. While riders of the customer’s target age shouldn’t be pushing the limits of a machine like this, the inclusion of 4WD would be welcome, especially considering the price. Similarly, the chain drive is tried and tested but more problematic than the traditional shaft drive. The Ranger 150 EFI cargo bed is a neat little thing, measuring 21″ by 45″ by 5″, and it’s rated for 50 pounds of cargo capacity.
