Not much can stop the Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 S. It’s got a solid 90-hp engine, massive hauling muscle, and impressive suspension and ground clearance to navigate the most challenging terrain. It also has many premium features and electronics for the enthusiastic ATV rider.
Polaris equips the Sportsman XP 1000 S with a 952 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine that delivers 90 hp.
It has a single overhead cam (SOHC) and electronic fuel injection (EFI). It is equipped with engine braking and Active Descent Control to help it maintain speed on descents. One Touch On-Demand AWD/2WD and its automatic PVT transmission with low and high gears (in addition to the park, reverse, and neutral) make it easy to shift into the proper equipment when you encounter rugged terrain or steep grades.
Multi-select EPS comes standard, a requirement considering this beast weighs 970 pounds. Large 27-inch wheels, arched double A-arm front suspension, sealed double A-arms with rolled IRS, and plenty of suspension travel makes it more than capable of rolling over extreme and challenging terrain. Ground clearance is also impressive at 14.5 inches.
You can slow this beast down with a single-lever four-wheel hydraulic front disc and a hydraulic rear footbrake. The transmission’s park setting can hold the ATV in place, but a lever can also be locked to ensure it doesn’t go anywhere.
With its cut-and-rise seat and easily accessible racks, this Polaris makes for a comfortable ride. The flared front fenders shield the solitary rider from mud and debris. Rough front and rear bumpers, on the other hand, protect the ATV from stones or helpful (or harmful) bumper-to-bumper hits from other ATV riders.
The Sportsman XP 1000 S stands out with its towing and front/rear rack capabilities. Riders can confidently tow loads up to an impressive 1,750 pounds when using the standard two-inch barrel hitch. The rear rack is rated for 300 pounds and the front for 200 pounds. It can handle just about any load.
This Sportsman XP 1000 S comes with LED lighting. Its handlebar-mounted light is a nice touch, giving the rider light in any direction with the turn of the handlebars. The fully digital gauge displays a range of information from the speedometer to the fuel gauge. There’s also a DC power outlet if you need to plug in your equipment or phone.
Polaris has made maintenance tasks simple. The oil line is located under the access panel, and the engine and transmission drain plugs are accessible through cutouts under the ATV. The air filter is, as usual, under the seat. The battery is hidden under the front hood.
